A homeowner standing in water does not read your website. They scan it for a phone number, decide in a few seconds whether you look safe to let in the house, and tap. Or they go back to the results page and tap somebody else.We build the version of your site that wins that decision.

Website design for plumbers is the practice of building a plumbing company's site around the one action an emergency customer takes — calling — rather than around how the business wants to be seen. It is judged on three things: how fast the page becomes usable on a phone over cellular data, how few taps separate a panicked homeowner from a ringing phone, and whether the page answers “can you come now, and are you safe to let in my house” before it says anything else.
Not time to loaded — time until a homeowner can tap the number. A hero video and a cookie banner can both finish loading while the one element that matters is still below them.
The honest count from landing to a live call. Two is achievable. Most plumbing sites we audit are at four or more, and one of them is a form.
Licence, insurance, hours, response window and reviews visible above the point where the page asks for something. A stranger is about to be let into a house at midnight.
The gap
Emergency plumbing clicks are among the most expensive in local services, and every channel you run — Search ads, Local Services Ads, the Map Pack — delivers that visitor to the same page. If the page converts at 1.5% instead of 3.5%, you have not bought too few clicks. You have bought each booked job twice: once from Google, and again next month when you go back for the customer this site let leave.
That is the whole case for rebuilding, and it is an arithmetic case rather than an aesthetic one. Nobody funds a rebuild because a competitor's homepage looks nicer. They fund one when they can see the monthly number the current site is quietly costing them.
What the delay actually costs
Of mobile visits are abandoned if a page takes longer than three seconds to become usable — and an emergency plumbing search is almost entirely mobile, often on a weak connection.
Google / SOASTA, 2017
Retail conversion lift from a 0.1-second improvement in mobile load time; lead-generation sites in the same study moved about 10%. Speed is not a technical nicety on this trade, it is the conversion rate.
Deloitte Digital for Google, “Milliseconds Make Millions”, 2020
Your ad budget buys the visit. The site decides whether you ever hear the phone ring.
What it's costing you
This is the sequence your site is actually being judged in — not a desktop review over coffee, but a wet phone held in one hand at half past six in the morning.
About eleven seconds, start to finish
They have already opened two other plumbers in background tabs. Yours is not being chosen yet; it is being screened, and the cost of leaving is a single tap on a button their thumb is already near.
On cellular, in a basement, against a hero video and a font file and a cookie banner. Whatever renders first is your entire argument, and on most plumbing sites what renders first is a photograph.
A phone number, and a reason to believe you will actually answer it and are safe to let in the house. Hours, licence, insurance, response window, a recent review. Not your founding story, not the service grid.
There is no third outcome and no second visit. A homeowner with water on the floor does not bookmark a plumber to consider later — the next result on that page is identical in effort and one tap away.
Every channel you fund ends here. This is the page that decides whether any of it was worth buying.
What your site has to do
A theme is a set of decisions someone made for an average business. Here is where plumbing is not average, and what we build instead.
A persistent tap-to-call bar on mobile, the number as a real tel: target rather than an image or text a thumb cannot hit, and the emergency path separated from the quote path so the person with a burst pipe never lands in an eight-field form.
We count the taps from landing to a ringing phone on your current site before we design anything. It is the single most useful number in the audit and it is almost never two.
Time-to-usable is the metric, not time-to-loaded. That means the call path renders first and everything decorative waits: no hero video, no carousel, no font that blocks the first paint.
This is why the build is hand-coded. On a themed site speed is something you fight back afterwards with plug-ins; here it is a property of what was shipped, which is also why it stays fast after your next content edit.
Licence number, insurance, how long you have traded, whether the person arriving is an employee or a subcontractor, and what your actual response window is. A stranger is being invited into a home, sometimes at midnight, and no other trade in this matrix has to clear that bar this fast.
Placement matters more than content: all of it above the point where the page makes an ask. Proof after the ask is proof nobody read.
Burst pipe, water heater failure, blocked main, no hot water, sewage backup. These are different panics with different questions, and sending all of them to a generic services page throws away the specificity the searcher just handed you.
These pages are also what your Google Ads and Local SEO work needs to land on. Built once, they raise the return on both — which is how a rebuild pays for itself out of budget you are already spending.
Call tracking, form events and lead-source attribution wired before launch, not after. Without it the site is an article of faith and every future change is an argument about taste.
For a plumber the important report is not sessions. It is calls per page and calls by hour, because it tells you whether the after-hours path works — which is where the highest-value jobs are.
Our Approach
Most agencies start from a WordPress theme. We build every site from scratch in Next.js — so it loads fast, ranks, and is built around getting you calls.

How It Works
Six to eight weeks from kickoff to launch. The order is the point — you cannot design a page before deciding what it has to say, and you cannot improve one you never instrumented.
Before anything gets designed we work out what the site has to say and who it has to say it to — your offer, the objections that lose you jobs, and the words your best customers actually use. Most redesigns fail here, not in the design phase: a beautiful page built on a vague message is just a faster way to lose the lead.
Hierarchy before pixels. We map what a visitor sees first, where the proof sits relative to the ask, how many fields stand between interest and a submitted form, and what the call path looks like on a phone. You approve the skeleton while it is still cheap to change.
Hand-coded on a modern stack — no themes, no plug-in stack to maintain, no page builder deciding what your site can do. Fast by construction rather than by later optimization, and yours outright: the design, the content, and the code, with a handoff any developer can pick up.
Tracking is wired before go-live, not bolted on after — form events, call tracking, and the source that produced each one. Then the site stops being a deliverable and becomes a starting position: we watch what real visitors do and rebuild whatever the data says is lying.
What it costs
This is the arithmetic we run on the first call, with your numbers rather than these. It decides whether a rebuild is worth doing at all — and sometimes it says no.
| What you already spend to fill the site | $3,000–$15,000/mo | Typical combined paid search, LSA and SEO investment for a single-location plumbing company. Every dollar of it lands on the pages we are talking about. |
|---|---|---|
| Conversion rate we usually measure | 1.2%–2.2% | Calls and forms against total sessions on an unrebuilt plumbing site. Owners consistently guess higher, because the phone does ring — just not as often as the traffic should produce. |
| Conversion rate the same traffic supports | 3%–5% | What a call-first build reaches on identical traffic. Not a promise — a range, and the audit tells you which end of it your site is realistically capable of. |
| Jobs the gap is worth, monthly | 8–25 calls | At typical plumbing traffic volumes. Multiply by your close rate and average ticket; that figure is the honest budget for a rebuild, and it is usually larger than the rebuild. |
| Time to know whether it worked | 30–60 days | Unusually fast for this matrix, because the traffic already exists. We are not waiting for rankings — we are changing what happens to visitors who are arriving today. |
| What you own at the end | All of it | Design, content, code, hosting and the analytics account. No proprietary builder, no licence to keep paying, nothing held back as leverage. |
Conversion ranges are what we observe across plumbing accounts we audit, not published research — traffic mix moves them more than anything else, since an LSA call and a cold organic visit behave nothing alike. The row worth arguing about is the third: if your site is already converting at 3%, the honest answer is that a rebuild is not your best next spend, and we will say so.
Why us
We run the Google Ads, LSA and Local SEO that feed plumbing websites, which means we see what the traffic does after it lands — an unusual position for a web team to be in.
Taps from landing to a ringing phone is the number we design against. Everything else on a plumbing site is negotiable; that number is not.
A mid-range Android on cellular, not a desktop score. That is the device standing in the basement, and it is the only benchmark that has ever mattered on this trade.
We run the paid side for plumbers too, so the pages get built to receive that traffic rather than being handed over and hoped for.
If your site already converts at 3%, a rebuild is not your best next spend and we will say so on the first call. Sometimes the answer is three fixes and a better offer.
Design, content, code, hosting, analytics. No builder licence, no lock-in, nothing kept as leverage.

FAQ
Straight answers about rebuilding a plumbing website — scope, cost, timing, and what it will not fix.
Not by itself, and any agency promising it is selling you two things at once. A rebuild changes what happens to the traffic you already have. Traffic is what Google Ads, Local Services Ads and Local SEO are for — a better site raises the return on all three, which is usually where the rebuild actually pays for itself.
Six to eight weeks. Weeks one and two are discovery and message architecture, which is the part most rebuilds skip and the reason most rebuilds disappoint. Design and build run three to six, tracking and launch in the last two.
Judge time-to-usable on a mid-range Android over cellular, not the score your desktop gives you. The call path should be tappable in under two seconds. Google's own research puts mobile abandonment at 53% past three seconds, and an emergency plumbing search is close to entirely mobile.
Yes, and they are usually the highest-converting pages on a plumbing site. Burst pipe, water heater failure, blocked main and sewage backup are different panics with different questions. They are also what your ads and Map Pack listings should land on rather than a generic services page.
Yes. Forms and booking flows integrate with the dispatch software you already run — ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber and the common alternatives — so a submission creates the job rather than an email somebody has to re-key. We wire whichever you use; we do not ask you to change it.
Rarely for the emergency path, often for the scheduled one. A homeowner with water on the floor wants a phone number, and a widget that intercepts that tap costs you the call. For planned work — water heater replacement, repipes — booking flows genuinely convert. So the two paths get built differently.
Sometimes, and we will tell you when. If the structure is sound and the problem is the call path, the form and the speed, that is a fixed-scope engagement rather than a rebuild. If the site is a theme with a plug-in stack holding up its performance, patching it is money spent on something you will replace anyway.
It depends on scope — number of service and emergency pages, how many locations, what it has to integrate with — and we quote it after the audit rather than before. The more useful number first is what the current site costs you monthly in jobs it fails to convert, because that is what the rebuild has to beat.
Entirely. Design, content, code, hosting and the analytics account, transferable on the day you ask. No proprietary page builder, no licence that stops working if you leave, no leverage held over you.
Call tracking, form events and lead-source attribution are wired before launch, so there is a clean before and after on the same traffic. For a plumber the reports that matter are calls per page and calls by hour — the second one tells you whether the after-hours path is working, and that is where the high-value jobs are.
You see structure before you see visual design, which is where most of that disagreement actually lives. By the time there is something to react to aesthetically, the argument about what the page has to do has already been settled and written down.
