Is Google Guaranteed worth it? The 2026 answer
The green badge is gone — replaced by blue "Google Verified," minus the $2,000 guarantee. What the program costs by trade now, from our own accounts.

First, the news: the badge you searched for was retired
In October 2025, Google consolidated its three Local Services trust labels — the green-check "Google Guaranteed," "Google Screened," and "License Verified" — into a single blue Google Verified badge, and discontinued the money-back guarantee that gave the old badge its name (U.S. claims closed December 7, 2025). Everyone still calls it Google Guaranteed, and Google still sells the same thing underneath: verified businesses paying per lead in Local Services Ads.
So the honest 2026 version of "is Google Guaranteed worth it" is really: is the Verified badge plus pay-per-lead economics worth it — now that the $2,000 customer guarantee is no longer part of the pitch. Here is that answer, with our own numbers.
What the badge is now — and what it costs
You pass verification (historically background checks, insurance, and licensing — currently being replaced by an identity check as the whole program migrates into Google Ads), the blue badge appears on your ads at the very top of local results, and you pay only when a lead contacts you. There is no separate fee for the badge itself: the badge is the wrapper, the per-lead billing is the price.
What those leads cost varies more by trade than any platform page admits. These are the observed ranges from LSA accounts we manage, as of August 2026 — each trade links to its full breakdown, and both tables live on in our quarterly benchmarks report:
| Trade | Billed per lead | Per booked outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Plumbing | $30–$95 | $60–$180 per booked job |
| HVAC | $25–$60 shoulder · $45–$110 peak | $70–$190 per booked job |
| Electrical | $25–$70 | $55–$150 per booked call |
| Roofing | $35–$100 | $90–$240 per booked job |
| Landscaping | $20–$55 | $80–$220 per maintenance contract |
| Pest control | $30–$80 | $150–$420 per retained plan |
| Moving | $45–$120 | $210–$620 per booked local move |
| Dental | $35–$95 | $130–$390 per attended new patient |
When the badge pays
The program earns its keep where trust is the bottleneck and the call is the sale: emergency and urgency trades, solo customers choosing fast from the top of the page, businesses whose review base already supports ranking. The badge converts skeptics who would never scroll to organic results, the pay-per-lead model puts a floor under waste, and disputes claw back the junk — our accounts run 10–30% of billed leads disputable depending on trade, which is margin you only capture with a call-tracking paper trail.
When it doesn't
Three situations argue against leaning on it. High-consideration, big-ticket decisions — a full reroof, a $15,000 remodel — rarely end at a badge call; buyers research, compare, and click, which is search-ads territory. Volume caps are real: LSAs are a floor, not a growth engine, and most markets max out well below ambition. And note the loss of the guarantee itself: the old pitch — "Google backs the job up to $2,000" — is no longer true, so if your close pitch leaned on it, retire that line before a customer corrects you.
The verdict rubric
Worth it when three things line up: the per-booked-outcome number in your trade's row clears the same backward math you would run on any channel; you can answer calls fast enough to protect both ranking and — after October 1 — your bill; and someone owns the dispute log. Miss any of the three and the program underperforms its reputation. Hit all three and it is still the cheapest trustworthy phone call in local marketing, guarantee or no guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
Is the $2,000 Google Guarantee still a thing?
No. Google discontinued the money-back guarantee when it consolidated its trust badges in October 2025 — U.S. reimbursement claims closed December 7, 2025. The green "Google Guaranteed" check is now the blue "Google Verified" badge, and verification plus pay-per-lead billing is what remains of the program.
What is the difference between Google Guaranteed and Google Verified?
Google Verified is the October 2025 successor: one blue badge replacing Google Guaranteed, Google Screened, and License Verified. Same placement at the top of local results, same pay-per-lead model — minus the customer reimbursement promise that gave the old badge its name.
How much do Google Verified / LSA leads cost?
By trade, in our managed accounts as of August 2026: roughly $20–$55 in landscaping at the low end, through $30–$95 in plumbing, up to $45–$120 for movers — with cost per booked outcome the number that actually matters, ranging from about $55 per booked electrical call to $620 per booked local move. Season and market move every range.
Does the badge actually improve close rates?
In our accounts, badge calls skew high-intent and close better than comparable cold search traffic — the format is built around "call now" and the checkmark does years of trust-building in a glance. We have not seen credible third-party data isolating the badge's lift, so treat vendor claims of specific percentages with suspicion.
Do I still need LSAs if I already run Google Ads?
Usually both, in sequence: LSAs first as the cheapest trustworthy calls until market volume caps, then search ads for control and scale on top. They are different products with different jobs — and with LSAs migrating into the Google Ads interface, running them as one system is becoming the default anyway.
